Wonderful warm sunny spring like day out on the trails. From Zealand Hut to the summit the trail is well packed and stable. At least 3 people went out to Zealand on Tuesday wearing snwoshoes from the hut, leaving the trail in good condition. The steep part near the ladder may becoming challenging when it freezes. The blazes on twinway are at shin level, leaving me pushing through spruce branches most of the way from zeacliff to the summit. Spoke with the hutmaster who went out and back to Guyot. There is a group of 36 high school students staying at the hut Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday Nights.
The town of Behtleham was clearing the road with a cat D5 Dozer. They made it from just above the Gate at 10:30am to about a half mile before Hale Brook Trailhead before calling it quits for the day. The road walk will be an ice rink till it melts and becomes mud, or snows again. |
