The snow hardened up real good after yesterday’s thaw, and all the trees were dry too. I climbed the slide in my snowshoes and poles, really should have had an ice axe and crampons just in case, the snow was hard and you wouldn’t want to fall, (or drop anything) or it would slide all the way down. Quite a thrill. On the way out I launched my Huntingtons bushwhack from the trail junction sign. I followed a bearing straight for 1 mile to the canister but I can’t say if this is the best route. The woods did improve greatly up high between the other peaks. After signing the 3 registers, I found a lookout from the cliffs, a stunning view. Headed straight down to the parking area, popped out just up the road. |
