Comments
Comments: As usual at this time of year, firm snow in the morning and in shady areas throughout the day. The south facing trails softened up early. On the way down I took Blueberry Ledge Cutoff to avoid the soft snow on the lower section of Blueberry Ledge Trail. The Cutoff hasn’t seen much use. I generally followed the trace of the trail but the conditions weren’t good. It was much easier to snowshoe through the open hardwood forest. The ledges were easily climbed in Hillsound Trail Crampons. Bare boots then light traction starting at the first steep area due to ice on the trail. Light traction up and down from there until I put snowshoes on to go down Blueberry Ledge Cutoff.
