Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: This is the first time I've used the new route for Jewell from the base station since it became offical. You no longer need to cross the river at the train station. Instead walk up the cog a short distance where there is a big sign directing you across the tracks where a new official trail connects to Jewell Link. Much nicer!

Comments
Comments: Lots of people out today on a beautiful warm day. Most were not using snowshoes and were doing fine. All trails were well packed. Gulfside is a mix of snow, ice, and rocks. The other trails were mostly hard packed snow. I used sharp spikes but would have preferrred rock spikes for Gulfside. I was happy to have full crampons for coming down Ammo but my friend did ok with microspikes although she had some minor to medium problems with balling in the sunny areas.
