Comments
Comments: Started at 7am up Blueberry Ledge. The below freezing temps all morning had us thinking the snow might have solidified a bit overnight…lolno.

Barebooted the first mile, then spikes to the ledges. Ledges were easier today than any time I’ve done them in the summer. Snow was super soft and grippy, easy to scoot right up. After ledges, snowshoes and T-shirt went on and stayed on until getting back to the roadwalk.

Rollins is meh…could have been better if the person in front of us didn’t decide to randomly take off his snowshoes about a mile in (facepalm). Diceys to the summit was pretty well-packed. Didn’t go to the viewpoint, but we talked to a guy who did, and he said that was the best section of trail all day.

Diceys on the way down is pretty trashed. I had not done this in the winter, so I didn’t realize just how open the woods would be. And since we were heading basically due south…yea, that trail got soft in a hurry. Passed four people coming up in spikes, which didn’t help the situation.

All in all, trails are SUPER soft, you’re gonna posthole with snowshoes if you step 3” off the packed part of the trail, you’re gonna posthole with spikes pretty much anywhere. If we’re gonna do this early Spring thing this year, let’s get the melt on and not have a random blizzard 2 weeks from now.

Also, of note, met a solo hiker and her dog in the parking lot as we finished. They attempted Paugus, but turned back below the summit due to rapidly deteriorating monorail.
