 | Comments: |
Nice GBP loop this morning. Trails were a total mixed bag today. I was able to bare boot up the GMT and Winter Shortcut. Mostly snow free with some patchy monorail. I put spikes on once I hit the Ridge Trail. A little more snow and ice but not enough to warrant snowshoes. Gunstock summit was busy with skiers. Made my way towards Belknap and changed to snowshoes in the Gunstock-Belknap col. Snowpack heading up Belkanp was still 1-2 feet deep. Trail was littered with post holes maiking footing tough. Kept the snowshoes on until I hit the summit of Piper. A few areas of snow free trail but they were short enough to leave my snowshoes on. Shortly after leaving the summit of Piper I switched back to spikes for the descent. Nice weather and plenty warm. The snow isn't going to last long now. |
