 | Comments: |
The middle of the trail is firm heading up Winslow. One may posthole on the edges without snowshoes. At the halfway marker there is a lot of ice on a good incline that is unavoidable. Spikes or crampons a must here. Shortly after that you can literally hear rushing water below the packed snow. With the recent high temperatures I believe the packed trail here will collapse very soon. Snow soft at summit. Bare rock is exposed mostly at the summit with small pockets of snow. Snowshoes best for Barlow Trail, especially out of tree line. Snowshoes at least to the bridge would help keep the trail intact and limit post holes. Heading down past the bridge the snow and trail was firm in the middle. |
