Comments
Comments: The snow on Sawyer River Road was ok for spikes at noon on my way in, but it was completely post-hole obliterated on my way out after everyone else had gone out in the afternoon. Signal Ridge Trail was fine for spikes too, but even that started to get post-holes by the end of the end.

Carrigain Notch Trail had just the faintest shadow of tracks from the hiker I'd seen two weeks ago heading that way. They are much much deeper now; the snow supported my weight mostly ok, but every few steps I'd randomly punch through. On my way out, I would even randomly punch through spots that supported my weight fine earlier.

I left the trail just a few yards shy of the tree marked with the V. I followed the drainage notch up to the cliff band. There were a handful of orange flags marking a path up through the wall. From there it was easy to follow the ridgeline up to the scree field and subsequently the summit.

The snow was awful throughout the bushwhack. It was mostly unsupportive of my weight, and I'd occasionally punch through into hidden cracks between rocks. Up higher in the really steep bits it was difficult to makes any progress forwards with the gross snow conditions. And I found numerous spruce traps, going up to my armpits once near the summit.

On the plus side, if you still want this peak before the end of winter, there is a very well defined track in my wake leading to the summit.
