Comments
Comments: We carried snow shoes. They only trail that they are potentially useful is the 0.5mile Turtleback Mt. Summit Spur, and for less than half of it, the beginning and the end. I choose to put them on since I carried them and I'm a bit heavier than Carrie. The track is a little miserable with or without them and the snow is up to 2 feet deep in spots. There is mono rail, but it's sort of a mess. The snow mobile roads were a mix of running water, collapsing ice, ice and hard packed snow. Most of the ice was easy to walk on without traction, and very grippy, but careful to listen, because it collapses and there's water running underneath.

I've been up to turtleback a number of times, and this was the first time that the green rock felt slick like ice. Not sure why.. Carrie had spikes on and was fine, but I had taken off my snowshoes and had to be very careful and couldn't explore too much.
