Comments
Comments: This was a tale of two hikes...

From Imp North trailhead most of the way up to Imp Face was pretty spotty snow/ice coverage so I wore spikes up to Imp Face. On the way up in the morning the snow was mostly firm and a pretty well established track or trough was present above Imp Face, which made the hiking much more pleasant. I switched to snowshoes there and wore them up to Middle Carter summit and most of the way down Imp South on my return.

The return was pretty brutal though - the temps warmed and the snow softened up. AT LEAST a couple of people went without snowshoes and postholed (read: rototilled) pretty much all of North Carter Trail and Imp South. They were a mess.

Overall an awesome day though! There really was a complete mixed bag of trail conditions from top to bottom and from morning to afternoon. Beautiful, warm, and clear weather with some wind - but it definitely wasn't cold! Spring is here, but let's see what the next storm brings us!
