 | Water Crossing Notes: |
All snowbridges were currently intact, but most were becoming unstable and some were broke through near the banks. Rock hopping in a few cases — all were passable. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Many blowdowns and consistent car washes through the trees on elevated snowpack. Use goggles and goretex to protect eyes and sensitive clothing. Many areas took significant busting through to get by, a few over/unders. One tree approaching Guyot Shelter area was blown over with 2 white signs on it facing down almost impossible to see. Pic included in link. |

 | Comments: |
We changed from spikes to snowshoes to bare boot at least a dozen times. Adding a couple of hours to our trek. Consistent need for varying traction. I would’ve chosen smaller spikes over Hillsound Trail Crampons that eventually dug up the balls of our feet. Snowshoes were completely necessary especially for the climbs (televators FTW), but be weary that with the melting, soft snow, the teeth have a hard time biting into the snow slush. We postholed even with snowshoes on sometimes. Guyot Shelter is broken out, as is the privy area nearby that is tough to find without tracks. Use caution at water crossings. |
