Comments
Comments: Absolutely stole a day out there today.

Spikes door-to-door. Snowshoes and crampons went for a ride.

8am start at Crawford saw a hard packed sidewalk all the way to the summit of Pierce. Solid, supportive snow continued to Eisenhower. There’s one area where tracks diverge, but one track is marked with flagging tape. Follow that one.

From Eisenhower to Monroe was pretty easy going. Lots of soft, grippy ice on Crawford Path. Coming down Monroe, there is one section where you have to traverse the sidehill, but pretty tame overall.

Heading up Crawford from Lakes of the Clouds is a spike chewer-upper. Tons of exposed northern Presi rocks that probably ground my spikes to nubs.

Cog down was mostly grippy snow due to baking in the afternoon sun. Spikes were adequate traction with proper step techniques. Below Waumbek Station, there’s a lot of soft mud/dirt.

If you can get out EARLY tomorrow, you might be able to take advantage of these conditions before they disappear. MWObs forecast is calling for light winds before 10am, so get it if you can!
