Comments
Comments: Report from earlier is accurate, although I started at 5pm aiming to get up to Little Haystack for sunset, and had quite a different experience. I micro-spiked Falling Waters to Cloudland Falls, and from there it got really greasy on the steeps so I switched to KTS crampons. Microspikes would have been slip sliding all over with not enough bite. Doable, just more effort. Crampons ripped through it. And I found the OBP to be a fantastic firm monorail from the Greenleaf Hut to the parking lot, save for the last mile where it softened up. Although it was dark at that point so perhaps firming up as a result. I micro-spiked that section, and it was a blisteringly fast descent. I only punched through once on that stretch. I thought snowshoes would have been useless today, but I carried them anyway.
