Comments
Comments: The trail is well blazed in blue. It is not signed at its jct with Cates Hill Trail but is signed at its bottom.

Lil Young and I showed her friend visiting from France our little hometown mountain on this cold and exceptionally windy day and she actually enjoyed it! While the two of them made it up and down the mountain without spikes, I used them and would highly recommend using them. Otherwise, you'd be slipping and sliding, using postholes, etc. Postholing wasn't terrible but lots of frozen divots which actually helped you gain some traction. Snow coverage was more or less continuous other than on the ledges on the summit. Views were partially obscured by clouds in the distance unfortunately but we went a short distance down from the summit along the herd paths to see how easy the mines would be to get to. We wound up turning back but with the ledges facing south, there was actually little snow here. Gaia had us at 1.5mi, 500ft of gain.
