Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I flicked off the trail a number of small branches blown down. One long tree, about 3" at the base, had broken off at the base (rot) and lay across the cutoff trail (I think it was there), an easy stepover, but it was easy enough to drag it off the trail completely

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Saw two non-matching low-traction pull-ons by the "Hiker/Event Parking" sign near the pond.

Comments
Comments: I didn't see Bill L or anyone else there the whole time, but I saw the footprints/postholes in the snow here and there. Today the route was bare-bootable until a short way up the cutoff, and then spikes helped. I used my rock-beaters, and put them on/took them off a good number of times. There was a good stretch for using them on the cutoff, then perhaps on High Ridge just past the junction with the cutoff. This is where there was a good stretch of postholed trail, but it wasn't long enough that I felt like I wanted to take the time to put the shoes on, so the shoes just stayed on the pack. I found that in many places it was easy enough to step in the postholes that weren't too deep. On the snowmobile trail section of High Ridge, above the pond, there was a lengthy stretch of well-packed snowmobile snow; I barebooted up this, but I put the spikes on for the downhill walk on the way out. Everything regarding snow and ice along this route is changing fast.
