Comments
Comments: Great day out there on the trails, and seemed like a lot of people had a similar idea! Put on spikes almost immediately as the trail was a mix of bare ground and ice. Solid trail with a mix of ice and snow heading up to Liberty. Both summits were bare, I didn't bother taking off my spikes as I needed them on the ridge between the two. Easy to stay in the middle of the trail today, but there are some large postholes in between the peaks, likely from people stepping off the slightly raised monorail. Trail was very uneven so snowshoes went for a ride, I don't think they would have helped today. That being said, everyone should carry them as the weather is definitely softening up the trail. Minimal wind and warm sun made for a leisurely hike. Saw a couple headed up to Liberty as I headed down with Nike sneakers and no spikes, I genuinely do not know how they made it up. Technically the last day of winter, but spring is here:(
