 | Water Crossing Notes: |
A few on 19 Mile Brook trail, but it hadn’t rained in a few days so they were fairly easy rock hops. I balanced on a log for one. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I cut some of the smaller annoying stuff, but there’s obviously a lot that will have to wait as there’s still a ton of snow up high. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Moriah is probably a good choice, but not the other peaks with the rotting snow. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Saw a few I think. |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
I found a knife, a can of bear spray, and a smartphone on my journey today. I brought the phone and bear spray to the Gorham police station. I kept the knife. |

 | Comments: |
I dropped a bike off and did a traverse of four 4000 footers for the grid today. The hike was about 17 miles with 6200 feet of gain roughly. It took me 10 hours for the hike not including the bike ride. I trimmed fallen trees along the way with my saw. I used snowshoes just about the entire way between Moriah summit and Carter Dome summit and back to Zeta pass. There is still a ton of snow up there, and little traffic south of Moriah. Some bare rock patches on the south facing slopes, just long enough to justify taking the snowshoes off a few times. My arms got very scratched up from constantly brushing the sides of the narrow trail on the ridge. |
