Going up: Road had a couple powder new inches, but still a super easy walk. First mile was easy and mostly hard packed. Middle section was running water, mid, and minimal snow. Feet are gonna get wet! Monorail started after 2300' and stuck around until the middle of the switchbacks. Bare boots to around 3800' we donned snowshoes, but there weren't really necessary. Just wanted to wear the heaviest traction we had on us. Wore those to the junction wear they started to ball. So back to bare boots to the really steep but just under the summit where we put in spikes. Spikes stayed on back to the mud/rock/water section and boots out. Melting super fast this afternoon. The difference between up and down was significant. Only saw 5 people today. |
