Comments
Comments: Your elevation will dictate the trail conditions. Ice, Mud and dry trail down low transitioning to monorail as you climb to the ridge. Drifting snow on the final climb to Carter Dome. The south facing trails were soft and at times slushy. The Mount Hight section south of the summit was a tangle of spruce/fir. there were many unusual twists and turns to make it through. we followed the general trace of the ridge SSW as there was no way to identify and stay on actual trail trail as we were in the crowns of the trees. The snow was mostly hard enough to support our weight. Going down the North Carter Trail was better than expected with only a few areas of open water. Lower down on the Imp Trail there were more areas of mud and open water with breakable Ice on tom of some areas.
