Very smooth day under the sun, the wind wasn’t too bad except near Mad river notch in the morning, and it calmed down during the day. The trail was hard packed because of the cold temperatures, there’s some post holing along the way, but overall the trail is in good shape. Snowshoes stayed on my back all day. Steep sections have nice steps, making it easy to go down, no need to butt slide. I went around the chimney after taking a closer look. Lots of ice, it didn’t look doable for me. I saw only five people all day.
