Comments
Comments: It was full winter conditions on Sunday. The wind was howling from the start (8:30) and did not let up. Don’t take the goggles and face mask out of your pack just yet. There was a fresh coating of snow at the trailhead, but we were able to bareboot for the first mile. At mile 2, we put on spikes and they stayed on until the same spot on the return. The trail was rock solid given the cold temperature but because of the previous warm days, there were a lot of frozen post holes with 3 - 4 inches of new snow on top as we gained elevation. The snow is still very deep the last half mile before the junction. Once above tree line, there is a lot of ice and exposed rock.

It was a very quick tag of the summit, since we were getting knocked off our feet. When it warms up, snowshoes will be needed once again. It is still winter up there.
