 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at the large Neals Cove parking area. Only car in the lot at 9:00; one other car there at 1:30. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
None were an issue -- the Shaw Trail, though, has its regular half-dozen spring-time water hazards (short sections of standing water). These were relatively easy to walk through or around. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Shaw Trail had a couple of small (2-to-3-inch?) duck-unders that were only an issue for someone over 5-foot-6. Other than that, trails are in fine shape. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw two exuberant, off-leash large dogs running around, well ahead of their negligent (but leash-carrying) owners, on South Ridge Trail. The only thing that prevented one of them from knocking over the smallest in our party was a pair of hiking poles. Yikes. |
 | Bugs: |
Yes -- some black flies, already. |

 | Comments: |
We were looking for a snow- and ice-free hike, and we found it.
Trails were mostly bone-dry.
A quiet, bareboot ramble; we kept to the southern end of the park, and purposely stayed away from some of the seasonally wetter trails, and were happy of it. |
