 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Brown road was frozen in the morning with a few inches of snow, but soft and muddy in the afternoon around 4:30. I might not drive in as far if doing this again in the spring, my Tacoma was struggling on the uphill part leaving. One other hiker was there in a jeep. |

You wouldn’t guess it on the drive up, but in the hills there was plenty of snow for snowshoes today. The first time while doing this list that I’ve run into another bushwhacker, which was pretty cool. I went and did both West Castle (3690’) and Castle, deep snowpack and fresh powder made for dreamy conditions cruising through the woods. I signed in at West for the NHHH (94/100). It took a few tries to find a good route to Castle from West, and no register there, not sure if it’s on any list either, but it had amazing views. I made the 2.7 miles back down to the logging road in 1 hour. From there I followed Mike’s tracks to Goback Savage mostly on another road, met up with him there, then we did separate routes to Stratford and I saw a moose over there. Jars on both these little peaks. It was about 14 miles for the day, in 7 hours. |
