Comments
Comments: Awesome and fast snow conditions. Firm trail down low with grippy snow on top. I barebooted all the way to the loop split in my trail runners. Temps were in the upper 30s. I went to full crampons for the steep parts. Much better to bite through the soft stuff on top to the firm base. The north side is much rougher/icy due to sun exposure. I usually like to do the loop counter clockwise so you hit the north lookout at the end, but clockwise may be better right now. No postholing issues anywhere. I stayed in the crampons until back at the Cedar Brook junction, where I went back to barebooting. Saw a fresh set of snowshoe tracks coming from Hancock Notch where it splits off on my way back, so that is broken out.
