 | Comments: |
hiked up lower Avalon to junction with A-Z Trail, then decided to hike up A-Z ... hiking solo, wasn't sure if upper Avalon Trail might be an icy luge run from butt sliders ... cloudy morning, temps in high 20s kept snow from getting sticky ... get an ungodly early start if you hike these peaks this week if temps rise above freezing on sunny days, to avoid sticky snow ...
carried snowshoes but never wore them ... postholed twice wearing micro spikes while stepping off trail between Field and Willey (30mph winds obscured the trail a bit at times) ... stay on trail and micro spikes should be fine |
