Comments
Comments: Went up 19MB, put spikes on at the foot bridge about 20 minutes in and kept them on until 2400 elevation decending IMP. Snowshoes went for a free ride today but with warmer temps I'd definitely take them. Lots of ice, very hard treadway due to cold temps (19*F to start). Still lots of snow at elevation. The monorail going up Carter Dome from Zeta Pass, and going down North Carter trail were frozen solid today, but with warm temps and/or rain could make for a miserable experience. Flowing water was undermining the hard pack which will likely fail soon. Water crossings were not terrible and for reference the Pemi discharge rate was at 532 this morning. Temps remained below freezing while I was on the ridge - with warmer temps conditions can/will be considerably different.
