Spikes all the way, another day of snowshoes getting a free ride but hey, I don't wanna learn the hard way. I'd suggest pretty GOOD spikes as the trail is rather icy heading up before Bugle Cliff. It's mostly avoidable but sort of not, you know? Rock spikes would have been a nightmare. Some rocks exposed in parts of the trail. The rest of the trail is great hard packed snow, some minor icy spots. The rock scrambles right before the summit are mostly completely snow covered, one awkward section with rock exposed but not too much fancy footing required. Final rock scramble is half snow and half bare rock (no issues) and the top is all exposed rock. Great to see a view after a viewless winter on this peak, I guess spring is good for something! |
