Comments
Comments: A beautiful windless day today with great views in all directions. A 19 degree start made the hard pack very nice. I post holed twice and only when I stepped off the center. There were a few patches of bare trial and ice, but the trail was mostly solid hardpack. I wore crampons car to car and was glad to have them on the butt slid steeps up to and down from East and the few ice patches on the chimney. Spikes would probably suffice but may have balled up some in the sunlit sections. The chimney was mostly bare rock but there were icy patches. I went up the main and down the bypass. The spikes and snowshoes stayed on the pack. I was the sole hiker on the trail.
