|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Rock hopping. The worst one was the first big one on York Pond trail. It looked like I could have found a better place to cross just once instead of twice. My shoes got soaked from the slush soon after anyway, so don’t fret if you step in a stream. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Nothing major. The ridge is always a little wild and I end up losing the trail, then I might see a blaze and get back on it. Some parts have fresh blazes, other parts could use more/ new blazing. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Fine for dogs. |
|
 | Bugs: |
A few mosquitos! |

 | Comments: |
Snowshoes door to door today was my preferred traction. I took a different route than usual, over Terrace Mountain. There was a faint track to follow, but the snow off trail was surprisingly supportive for bushwhacking. I stayed on trail until North Terrace, then on the way down to Bunnell Notch I decided to just bushwhack straight to Cabot, passing through the scree field, coming out right at the outhouse. It was steep and thick but I got up there quick, saving some mileage and elevation loss. Great views today. I took the trail back down, saw one person coming up. The monorail was holding up but things were getting slushy by afternoon. |
