A great bonus hike after Cabot and Terrace today. Really fun loop up Deer Mtn, along the ridge, down over to Round and back out the road. Snowshoes most of the way. Snow was pretty slushy since I started at 3:00 pm and finished at 7:00. About 6 miles I estimate, and 1,800 feet of gain. 2 very different mountains, both very enjoyable today despite the slushy conditions. I didn’t need Deer for the list, but it has a canister - it leaks, and it doesn’t seem to be the high point of the ridge on my map , and there’s a mysterious old cabin there. Round has an orange canister near the lookout ledge on the south side. The road had an annoying amount of water bars and lots of snow still. |
