Comments
Comments: Surprisingly firm fast conditions today. It took me 3 hours up, and only 1 hour down. No slush but it did start to rain on my descent. I took advantage of the firm snow and bushwhacked up the East Slide right after the pond - it was full of good crusty snow, but also running water and some ice. Wicked fun climb, I didn’t feel unsafe in microspikes with the ability to kick steps in, but it could require more gear on another day. The slide ends maybe a couple hundred feet in elevation below the summit, so it’s a thick bushwhack up from there. No issue descending the trail with Hillsounds and poles, snowshoes came for the ride, but conditions may be different next time. There were several groups heading up in the rain.
