Comments
Comments: Normally hiking in April is like a pox on your firstborn, but Mt Pemigewasett on Friday was an absolute gem of a hike, with Ice-free slabs and views for miles. Spikes only for the win, however there is enough snow after .8 miles to use snowshoes. While the approach to the first tunnel Is snow-covered, it was soft enough to bareboot. We opted to don spikes after the wooden bridge as the trail had enough packed ice and snow to warrant traction. A few spots of running water and mud, one major blowdown, all water crossings are open but easily rock hopped, and the monorail was solid to the true summit. A few more weeks of warm weather should help winter lose its grip on spring!
