Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Crazy amount of deadfall of all sizes on all trails right now. Winter was not kind to Moose Mountain. Mostly small/medium stuff with the exception of Tom Linnell Ridge trail. From its’ northern terminus to tower road is absolute blowdown carnage. Unmitigated erosion damage is wreaking havoc on all these trails-they have deteriorated greatly in the four years I have lived next to the mountain. Upper wolfeboro road is washing away with severe gullying and washouts. The AT section headed down from South Peak is a mud pit, and Nat Thompson is like hiking in a creek from top to bottom.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Moose Mountain is great for pups. No shortage of water right now.

Comments
Comments: Reconnaissance mission to see what shape the home mountain is in. As mentioned above it is in rough shape and more expectedly very very wet at the moment. I would not recommend being on any of these trails right now. Snow and ice is pretty much gone in most places. From the Wolfeboro Col to South Peak there is still a few inches of frozen granular but surrounding woods are clear and it is patchy and easy to navigate without traction. Based on what I saw and know of the mountain I assume there is still copious ice from North Peak headed down to Goose Pond Road, as the woods here are mostly coniferous up high and receives no direct sun. I would not hike that section without light traction right now. Despite all the running water, muck, and deadfall it was a blast to wear trail runners and move fast through all the slop.
