Yesterday's snow didn't melt much over here, so there's a fairly steady coating of about an inch once you pull away from the trailhead; mud in some other places down low. The first pitch after the water crossing has ice underneath the new snow, so light traction may not be a bad idea in places. The mud pit is still partially covered with frozen granular and ice. Still a number of pockets of residual winter snow elsewhere.
Things were fairly frozen today, but once temperatures warm up again, I think the Mt. Prospect Trail could use a week or two of thawing before folks hit it again.
Nice partly sunny afternoon with temperatures in the lower 40s. From the viewpoint, it looks like the open water on the lakes is starting to spread. |
