Peaks Hedgehog Mountain (Deering), NH
Trails
Trails: Hedgehog Mountain Road, Hedgehog Ridge Trail, woods road
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, April 10, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There are two lots. The first would hold 5-6 cars. The second is about .1 miles up Hedgehog Mtn Rd. This lot would hold 3-4 cars but the road to it would require 4wd or good clearance due to the mud. Once it dries out later in spring would be very drivable.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery

Comments
Comments: You can do this hike a number of ways. As it's a "lollipop" type hike you can go clockwise or counter. I went counter which hits the steeper sections sooner. Going clockwise is a fairly gradual climb. You could do this as an out and back to the Vista which would be great for a quick hike. With a car spot you could do a "thru" hike of the Hedgehog Ridge Tr.
Any of these options would have you out in a great spot. The Vista gives you views from Crotched Mt, Pack Monadnock, Monadnock to Kearsarge (south). Also views into the river valley. You go through Hemlock forest to open hardwood forests. The Woods Rd was the only place where there was water flowing etc. on the trails. Easily avoided.
