Lost and Found: Pair of snow shoes right before Zeta Pass if you’re coming down from Carter Dome. We left them there hoping someone had purposely left them to grab on the way back.

Comments
Comments: What a great day to be out. Blue sky and mild temps. Freezing over night solidified the trail. Barebooted up Polecat to the summit of Wildcat D. Mixed bag of bare ground in spots with nicely groomed snow pack. Put hillsounds on at the summit and had minimal issues getting to Wildcat A. Couple inches of fresh power with a solid base underneath. Coming down from A peak to 19 mile brook trail was a nightmare. Hillsounds weren’t cutting it and wished I had real crampons. Long stretches of steep side hill traverses that were pure ice covered in fresh powder. Lots of sketchiness, including a self arrest with some trekking poles. Be extremely careful if you go this route. Going up Carter-Moriah was similar conditions with footing but ascending wasn’t as death defying. Would not recommend descending this section without proper equipment though. The rest of Carter-Moriah was ok with the hillsounds but some very steep sections mixed with blowdowns to make following the correct route a little tricky. Descending North Carter and Imp was perfect. All that slop is currently frozen over still and made for a quick descent. Snow disappears around 2300ft and the rest of the trail is bare dry trail til the end.
