Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Used the summer crossing which is now tracked out. Crossed on combo of elevated rocks, log and partially submerged rock. Feet stayed dry. Checked out the winter crossing that I used on previous trips in Feb and March - did not see any elevated rocks to cross on there.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few blowdowns down low on trail, all have paths around. One tricky blowdown to get around up high after Signal Ridge on the way to the summit with a steep sidehill. The broken path went to the downhill side, but it's getting really steep with the sidehill. I went uphill through the branches on that one.

Comments
Comments: Used a combination of bareboots and snowshoes today. Worked well for me. Below about 2100', variable snow coverage with some open patches of bare ground / leaves, lots of open drainages. Barebooted through here. At about 2100' and beginning of the first section of switchbacks, snowshoes went on and stayed on until return to the same spot on descent. Snowshoes gave me good traction up and down, and the televators were nice for the long uphill sections. Loose, unconsolidated / soft snow up high from the recent storm that benefitted from some packing with the shoes. Lots of sketchy narrow sidehill sections with steep drop-offs on the switchbacks and the long "misery mile" section. The snowshoes worked well through here to pack and widen the path a little bit. Yes, they got a bit clumpy in sections but it's April and it happens! Spikes would have been worse and I preferred to have some kind of traction on my feet, especially on the sidehill sections with the loose snow. Road is intermittent stretches of snow / bare ground. Firm in AM, a bit softer in PM, bareboots. Saw one other person who had spikes with them, but was having difficulty with balling snow.
