Windy, wet, sloppy conditions today. Spikes on a mile in, fairly easy hike until the steep section. Watch for hidden icy areas! 1st on trail so I broke out up to 6” of heavy wet sticky snow, while dodging tree pee & snow bombs. Someone must have missed the South Peak Trail, and I was very thankful the last 200 yards to intersection was broken out. Layered up for the last mile, winds were crazy & visibility was almost zero. Carins were hard to see, clouds down on the deck made following footprints difficult. Trip back was easier as snow seems to be melting, balling wasn’t as bad on way down. Only saw 3 others today. |
