Comments
Comments: Nice road walk as Zealand Road still gated. Bare-booted a 1/2 mile up from trailhead then donned micro-spikes. Spikes were needed as it was softening as day progressed with 50 degree temperatures. Water crossings down low were fine with some rock hopping. Upper crossing of more significance still bridged with snow. Upper elevations had one to two inches of recent softer snow on surface - still a couple of feet of consolidated snow on trail up high. Trail narrows 2/3 of a way up for a bit and trekking poles helped on a couple of tight corners/switchbacks that banked towards a steeper side slope.
