 | Comments: |
I managed most of the day in bare boots (goretex trail runners) which gripped well in the fresh snow. I put on hillsound spikes only for the notch. It was in the 50s this afternoon so things were changing fast and by the end of the day all the nice white trees had turned green. I got really soaked because I decided to bushwhack down from the Dome instead of attempt the trail, but the sun and breeze dried me out quick after. Going up Wildcat A was manageable around 1:30 luckily - no bushwhacking needed. Descending the ski slopes around 3:00 was very slushy and my shoes finally wet out, but it’s a gentle grade. Poles were essential today, and gloves for grabbing trees, but traction was pretty useless when it balled up. |
