Comments
Comments: The TRT is firm/a little icy and starting to melt out down low. I went in the afternoon and so was able to hike all the way to the bowl in bare boots, but earlier in the day you would definitely need spikes.

I went up the ravine via Left Gully. This is not a trail. For this and any route on the eastern side of the mountain this time of year, an ice axe and crampons are absolutely required. The snow up in the ravine was firm once the sun dropped over the ridge, and a bit icy.

Davis Path had a few inches of crunchy snow, plus patches of exposed dirt/rock. The Boott Spur summit was nearly all exposed rock. I kept my crampons on for the first half-mile or so after that, as the trail was an unstable sheet of ice with minimal rocks poking through. I took them off once I got past that part. After that, it was mostly dry rocks, with occasional patches of steep snow.

Below treeline, the Boott Spur trail had several inches of soft snow, with deeper postholes possible. There's occasional tree debris, and it didn't look like this trail had been traveled much recently, but it was overall in better condition than I expected. I was in bare boots until less than a mile from the end, where the snow became icy and I put my crampons back on -- and kept em on until the bottom of the TRT. The ladder was dry and totally free of snow & ice.
