 | Comments: |
All of the trails are in very good condition for April. Lincoln Woods is a mix of dirt, mud, ice and frozen snow. These conditions continued on Black Pond. Lincoln Brook and Owl's Head Path are more consistently snow packed. We put on our spikes part way up Lincoln woods and halfway up Brutus we switched to crampons as the spikes wee balling up. There is also a layer of blue ice here hidden under the snow which made it a bit slick. We encountered 2 spruce traps on the Owl's Head trail but they were firm enough for us to get over them without issue. It was warm today so the trails softened and melted by the time we returned.
