Comments
Comments: Started early and the over night temps solidified everything up nice for the trek in. Lincoln Woods has a good amount of bare ground until beyond Osseo Trail, then becomes a mix of solid snow pack. Snow pack mostly on Black Pond Trail. Black Pond Bushwhack was mostly bare ground that was dry for the most park. Lincoln Brook Trail was mostly snow pack mixed with some bare spots and avoidable mud. Brutus bushwhack and Owl’s Head Path still have a decent amount of snow. Was able to catch a sweet view of the Bonds near the summit of Owl’s Head due to the high snow pack. Barebooted from Lincoln Woods to the first water crossing on Lincoln Brook Trail. Put on Hillsounds to the summit and wore them back to the start of the Black Pond Bushwhack. Brought crampons along for the ride from reading the review from Monday but never felt unsafe enough to warrant putting them on. I think there was enough melt on Brutus and the late morning sun softened it up enough to get decent traction with microspikes.
