Not much to add to the last report - great conditions. I bare booted without spikes the whole day but carried snowshoes. West Bond Spur was basically a bushwhack as it was the past 2 months, more difficult on the return as I couldn’t see my own tracks, only a half inch of new drifting snow. There were 2 folks heading up for a multi night Pemi loop not carrying snowshoes or spikes, I told them that was risky if it warms up. It was sunny today but very windy, knock you down windy on the open ridge. The rime ice on the trees still hadn’t melted by 3:30 pm. Things were getting slushy down low around 5:00 but it’s not too deep down below 2500 ft. |
