 | Comments: |
Wentworth up was mostly dry, ground was more or less still frozen from overnight temps in the high 20s. Minor stretches of shallow ice and snow begin once attaining the ridge ~2500. Barebooted with care in these sections, the summit area was just bare rock. Great views to the NW and N. Put on spikes at the Mead junction expecting a change in conditions on the NW running trail. Snow became pretty consistent a few hundred yards from the junction, the depth never exceeded more than a foot, although some deeper drifts. Still early morning and temps were low, snow held in just spikes. Snowshoes might be worth it in warmer temps, but we'll see how long this depth lasts. Spikes off by 1900 but patches of snow on and off through the rest of hike until Bearcamp. Guinea Pond trail is expectedly muddy in many places considering this time of year, the relocated bypass helps avoid the standing water sections. Beautiful day! |
