Started early today so the monorail was pretty stable on the way up. On the last switchback before reaching tree line the sun has really softened the snow. The monorail was very narrow in spots. It was also a long way down on each side. With the warm temperatures and the approximate 20 people we saw headed up I would be surprised if they are there tomorrow. The remainder of the monorail seemed to be holding up for us on the way down although there were more postholes on the sides than when we were headed up.
The summit was clear but with a high ceiling of clouds, the breeze was cool not cold, and most all of the snow was gone above tree line. Streams were still all bridged.
Used spikes both up and down, snowshoes took a ride today. |
