 | Comments: |
It's shoulder season. Name a trail condition other than fresh snow, it's there. Now that it's been warmer for a few days, the monorail is getting to be unstable. Where it's stable can be an inch or two wide, up to a foot. It's all luck of the draw. If it's sitting in the sun at all you're likely to punch through. It was 60 at the summit while I was there, and those warmer temps had an effect even in the short time I hung around. Postholed way more on the way down. Kind of a tossup whether snowshoes would help; one guy headed up had them on and even he was postholing. |
