Comments
Comments: This was a three-season hike on a beautiful day. The route up to Carter Dome from the hut was surprisingly bare on the steepest sections. Higher up, the snow gets deep and some blowdowns cause confusion. Monorail is softening. Atop Carter Dome, the views are great as the snow is still deep. Coming off Dome, it's smooth sailing over to Hight, which is bare, and affords 360 views. Continuing on to South and Middle, snow is less, but blowdowns can be tricky. Step off the monorail and you sink in waist deep. North Carter requires continued spikes until you get lower on Imp and, even then, the rushing water freezes in some spots. Snow, sun and some warm spring rain made for a fun day.
