Comments
Comments: Went out to perform basic trail maintenance on Old Skidder and Irene's Path. Cleared a few things but trail is in good shape. Kettle's Path had multiple inches of standing and flowing water at the start of the trail which was hard (or impossible) to avoid before the trail turned uphill and was dry to the Scaur. Irene's Path was mostly dry until it started descending and some ice appeared but it was easily hiked through without spikes. Deep soft snow/decaying monorail appears (~2300ft elevation) about 100 yards from the intersection with The Flume spur and continues for the entirety of Old Skidder. Lots of postholing (up to my knee or higher in a lot of places) for the entire trail; decaying monorail made each step a bit of a gamble. I did not expect this much snow this low down! Might need to return for more maintenance on Old Skidder once the snow melts. Livermore trail had snow at the intersection with Old Skidder but was dry starting about 100yds south all the way back to the car. A great first day out in the woods after the snowboard season!
