Trails
Trails: Dicey Mills, Rollins, Blueberry Ledge
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, April 28, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Ferncroft parking area had plenty of spaces. I arrived at 7:45 AM and there were 3 other cars.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable)
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The water crossing on Dicey Mills has two logs that makes it easy enough to cross. I used my poles to help with balance. Water level was surprisingly low considering the rain from Saturday.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of water troughs cleared on Blueberry Ledge...thank you! Blow downs on Dicey Mills between junction with Rollins and peak of Passaconaway. All were navigable, but as the snow melts, some may become trickier.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Crossed paths with one friendly dog. He had gone up the ledges on Blueberry Ledge Trail without issue.
Bugs
Bugs: There were flies...yuck!

Comments
Comments: I chose to go counterclockwise today for a change. Headed up Dicey Mills. Water crossing was no issue using the two logs that cross it. Bare ground to almost the junction with Rollins, other than a few patches of monorail just before. Put on my spikes as I went up the rock scrambles to Passaconaway and back off when I arrived to the junction with Rollins. Then headed up Rollins towards Whiteface. Mostly bare ground for the first mile and stable/unstable monorail the last mile to the peak (put my spikes on for that last mile). Warm temps progressively made the monorail unstable. Heading down the rock scrambles and ledges on Blueberry Ledge Trail were a bit tricky due to existing monorail, but still doable. From the junction with Tom Wiggins Trail, Blueberry Ledge Trail was mostly bare ground the rest of the way down. It was a beautiful day to be in the mountains.
